"Students have high expectations for college, and these expectations have increased over the past two decades. In 1988, 57 percent of middle and high school students said it was very likely they would go to college. By 1997, this level had increased to 67 percent. Today, 75 percent say it is very likely they will go to college." – MetLife Survey of the American Teacher: Preparing Students for College and Careers
CLI -- Report
CommunicationWorks has been working with Children’s Literacy Initiative (CLI) to share findings and results from their work funded by its Investing in Innovation (i3) grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Through the i3 grant, CLI has expanded its Model Classroom program in high-need schools in Philadelphia, Chicago, Newark, NJ, and Camden, NJ, to provide professional development services to teachers, literacy coaches, principals, and support staff to improve literacy instruction.
Recently, CW worked with CLI to create a report on its work, highlighting teachers, principals, district administrators, and parents in each of the four i3 cities, as well as CLI’s first annual national i3 meeting. CW co- authored the report, which provides information about CLI’s mission, impact on teachers and students, and financials.
