Transforming Professional Practice

Through the years, CW has worked with numerous organizations to spread innovative approaches to improve teaching and learning, school leadership, literacy development, mathematics education, the use of research for decision making, and improving equity in schools and postsecondary education and workforce development. The work has included everything from developing strategic partnerships with key practitioner and leadership organizations to supporting marketing through advertising, exhibits, influencer strategies, video production, hosting meetings with state, district, and institutional decisionmakers, and release of research and information about student success.

For many years, CW was the communications partner for the Wallace Foundation’s Principal Leadership Initiative. We also worked to develop articles, ads, marketing content and tools and execute outreach strategies for America’s Choice School Design, a comprehensive curriculum and school improvement program,  and the National Institute for School Leadership, an executive training to prepare principals as dynamic leaders. Also, notably, the firm provided communications and marketing support for the Reading Apprenticeship Program and the Children’s Literacy Initiative.

CW is working with Joe Feldman,  a former teacher, principal, and district administrator, and author of Grading for Equity: What It Is, Why It Matters, and How It Can Transform Schools and Classrooms, to introduce educators to more effective and accurate approaches to grading. We have worked with Crescendo Education, headed by Feldman, to establish national and regional partnerships with education organizations to spread the practice to more schools. We also write and place articles in publications read by educators, introduce Joe and his research to prominent education leaders, and develop education policy papers, including School Grading Policies Are Failing Children: A Call to Action. We are currently spearheading a fundraising initiative to support the national expansion of the Equitable Grading Project.
